Restoration at Dirksen Nature Park

Restoration volunteers will help to remove invasive species to prepare Dirksen Nature Park sites for upcoming Friends of Trees plantings as well as extensive restoration work to be done over the next 18 months by Tualatin Riverkeepers.  Invasives will include English and Atlantic ivy, holly, and more.  This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the site and identify some native species that will thrive with further efforts such as salal, nootka rose, several tree species, snowberry, etc.  Please join us to improve this beautiful park!

Advanced Registration: Is required. Please sign up (green button below) ahead of time to guarantee your spot.

Meeting Location: We will meet at the Dirksen Nature Park shelter that is directly adjacent to the playground

What to Bring: Please bring water, sturdy shoes or boots, and gloves if you have them

What's Provided: We will provide all tools and additional gloves

Restrooms: Several bathrooms are built into the shelter area, you will need to walk from restoration site to the bathrooms if needed.

Parking: There are parking lots at both the nature center and a lot just down the road near the Dirksen shelter

Transit: Not available nearby

Accessibility: This area may not be easily accessible for folks with mobility concerns.

Translation Services: There will not be a Spanish speaker present at this event.

Youth Volunteers: Volunteers 13 and under must be accompanied by an authorized adult.
