Urgent Need Cleanup Event at NE Marine Drive and 112th
Join SOLVE at NE Marine Drive and 112th for a cleanup in an urgent-need area in Northeast Portland. The focus of this event is pickup the large amounts of trash that have been dumped and left behind on NE Marine Drive under I-205.
SOLVE defines an Urgent Need cleanup as an area with a high concentration of litter that poses a threat to public safety and environmental quality. Urgent Need cleanups are not family friendly or suitable for anyone under the age of 18 due to an increased presence of hazardous materials. Safety guidelines will be put in place before the cleanup begins.
On January 26th we are going to leave this spot on Marine Drive in pristine condition! During this cleanup, you will work with SOLVE staff in small groups to clean up piles of trash in the area. This event will take place on the side of a road. We will mark off our work space with cones.

Meeting Location: Volunteers will be meeting at the northwest corner of the Home Depot parking lot near NE Airport Way and 112th.

What to Bring: Please come wearing a face covering. Wear sturdy work boots, if you bring personal belongings please bring a backpack so you can pick up trash hands-free. Dress for the weather, wear closed-toed shoes, and long pants. Please wear a waterproof jacket if the forecast calls for rain.
What's Provided: SOLVE will provide trash grabbers, trash bags, work gloves, and high-vis vests. We will also provide water so everyone can stay hydrated.
COVID Safety: We are asking volunteers to wear a mask at this event. During this event volunteers will be working in close proximity with each other so we are requesting that all participants stay masked throughout the entire event.
Parking/Getting There: Free street parking is available at the Home Depot parking lot. This location is near the 87 bus line.
Bathrooms: Home Depot is letting volunteers use their restrooms.
Accessibility: This event will have limited accessibility. This is not a recommended event for those with mobility concerns.
Youth Volunteers: This will be a 18 and older event due to the expected increased amounts of hazardous materials that we will find at this location.
