Sandy River Cleanup Event in Troutdale

Join the fun! SOLVE and the Sandy River Watershed Council invite you to join in on a cleanup event to remove litter and restore habitat on Beaver Creek near the town of Troutdale. Let's work together to protect and improve one of the most productive salmon rearing streams in the Sandy River Watershed. We will collect harmful litter before it washes into the stream and remove Armenian Blackberry by cutting its stems and digging out it's roots to make room for native plants.

This project is supported by the Troutdale Community Enhancement Grant.

When: Saturday, February 6th, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm

Advanced Registration Required: Pre-registration is required! Please sign up (Green Button Below) ahead of time so we know how many volunteers to expect and to fill out the volunteer waiver form.

What to Bring: Please come wearing a face covering. Wear close toed shoes, long pants, bring a water bottle, snacks, a back pack and dress for the weather. All cleanup supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring the following items to help us reduce the number of supplies we distribute: reusable bag or 5-gallon bucket, garden or work gloves, litter grabber, shovel, loppers.

What's Provided: SOLVE will provide rubber palmed work gloves, heavy duty garbage bags, litter grabbers, shovels and loppers to all participants.

Physical Ability: This event is not ADA accessible. The check in station and work areas will be off pavement and off trail or on unimproved dirt paths, and sometimes on a slope. Participants should be confident they have good balance and can walk off trail and on slopes without undue risk of injury. If a participant would like to collect litter on the sidewalks that follow the roadways instead of working off trail, that is an option, but they would be working independently and away from the group.

Children/ Event Size: Children are welcome and encouraged to attend. Children must be accompanied by an attentive adult. This event is currently limited to 16 participants. If you sign up and are put on the waiting list, SOLVE will notify you if a spot opens up.

Meeting Location: Participants will meet at College Nature Park near the corner of SW Stark St and Troutdale Road in Troutdale.

Parking: Park across the street in the large parking area where Dairy Queen and Anytime Fitness are located.

Bathrooms: There are no public restrooms available at this natural area.
