Poet's Beach - Human Access Project - Swimming Hole August Cleanup!
Join together with the Human Access Project, the Friends of RiverPlace, Solve and community members to clean up Poet's Beach on the Willamette River. Volunteers will gather at Poet's Beach to check-in, get litter gear and then head out to pick up trash and rocks that have migrated to the beach. Look for rocks both small and big that have migrated to the beach and put them back on the bank. This makes our beach look beachier and improves shallow water habitat for juvinille Salmon. Families are welcome to attend.
Bring a swimsuit! After the cleanup we can all take a dip and admire our great work!
Let’s come together and make a real impact for the river and the community!

What’s Provided: We will provide all volunteers with trash grabbers, trash bags, and works gloves.
What to Bring: All volunteers must wear a MASK! Please also come wearing comfortable closed-toed shoes and your own pair of work gloves if you have them. We recommend bringing a filled reusable water bottle and if you are bringing anything else pack them in a backpack to keep your hands-free during events. Please also dress for the weather.
Walk, Roll, or Bicycle: along the South Waterfront Park Trail. Bicycle racks are available at Poet’s Beach for short-term use.
Public Transportation: the nearest Portland Streetcar stop is SW River Parkway and Moody Avenue. The nearest TriMet bus stops are 35 and 36. Note that road construction may affect TriMet routes; check trimet.org before you begin your trip.

Bathrooms: Permanent restrooms are available a few minutes’ walk or bike north of the beach at South Waterfront Park Garden, 1831 SW River Drive. Please plan accordingly.
Accessibility: The check-in area is in a place that is wheelchair accessible. Much of the cleanup work will take place on a beach that is not ADA accessible. A person could check-in and collect litter along the Esplanade and nearby city streets, which are accessible, although they would be working away from the group. Please reach out if you have any questions or a need for accommodations. We will do our best to support you.
Youth Volunteers: Children are welcome if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth volunteers ages 14-17 will have to have their guardians sign a separate youth waiver form if they are attending a SOLVE event without a guardian. Find the link to youth waiver form here.
