Brooklyn Neighborhood June Cleanup for Pick It Up Portland



 


Come join some local residents on on Saturday, June 26th for a trash pickup event in the SE Brooklyn Neighborhood. 

This event is open to volunteers of all ages. Families with small children are welcomed. Picking up litter beautifies our public spaces. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. Come help make the areas where we live and work a little cleaner. Many hands make light work!


When: Saturday June 26th, 10:00am - 12:30pm

Staggered Check In: To avoid a crowd at check in, arrive anytime between 10:00 - 10:30am for check in. Event will run until 12:30 pm.

Where: Iron Fireman Collective, 4784 SE 17th Ave, Portland, OR 97202. We will meet at the parking lot adjacent to the Iron Fireman Collective building on the southeast corner of SE 17th and Schiller. MAP LINK.
 
Getting There/ Parking: Walking/biking/taking Trimet to the event is encouraged. The MAX Orange Line stops at SE 17th and Holgate, approximately 2 blocks north of Iron Fireman Collective. The 70 Line stops at SE 17th and Schiller. Volunteers may park in the Iron Fireman Collective's parking lot if they decide to take their own vehicle.

What's Provided: Heavy-duty garbage bags, litter grabbers, high-vis vests, and gloves are provided to all participants that need them. 

What to Bring: Please come wearing a mask, water and/or a snack, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. If you have your own gloves, litter grabber, litter bag or bucket, you are encouraged to bring those as well. Please also dress for the weather. This event will go on rain or shine. 

Advanced Registration: Pre-registration is required! Please sign up (Green Button Below) ahead of time so we know how many volunteers to expect, and to fill out the volunteer waiver form.

COVID Safety: All volunteers are instructed to wear a face covering and to observe social distancing throughout the cleanup. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult. 

Restrooms: Restrooms will be available inside the Iron Fireman Collective. 

Youth Volunteers:  This event is family-friendly and open to kids and adults of all ages. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Youth volunteers ages 13-17 can also create their own SOLVE account online. A youth volunteer can attend without their guardian if they print out and bring a signed youth waiver form.
