Lents Community Clean-Up Working hand-in-hand with our houseless neighbors!
The Lents Neighborhood Association & Four Forces Inc, in partnership with Street Roots, Wall of Vets PDX, Portland Street Response, PDX Saints, and Matzah Bloc are proud to present a neighborhood clean-up event improving the safety, sanitation, and beautification of the Lents I-205 Multi-use Pathway and 92nd Avenue. This event is intended to clear litter and debris from the area and provide trash-removal service to our houseless neighbors along this pathway. This event is in support of the needs of our houseless neighbors - garbage bags will be disseminated by Street Roots Ambassadors and PDX Saints 1 - 2 days in advance.
Date: & Time: Saturday, May 15, 2021, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Staggered Check In: Volunteers are requested to arrive between 9 - 9:15 am for (socially distanced) team building, volunteer litter/debris pick-up training. Mandatory de-escalation training hosted by Street Roots Ambassadors, will start at 9:30 am.
Meeting Location: The beginning location will be at Kingpins 3550 SE 92nd Ave. Portland, OR 97266 and the ending location will be at the Wattles Boys and Girls Club. 9330 SE Harold St, Portland, OR 97266.
What’s Provided: The LNA & Four Forces Inc will be providing COVID safety equipment (masks, gloves, and sanitizer). Temperature scan will be taken for all volunteers. The LNA or possible sponsor will be providing water bottles and light snacks, as well as several tables and chairs for volunteers at our Wattles Boys & Girls Club. Street Roots will be providing de-escalation training for volunteers prior to clean-up. SOLVE provides trash grabbers, trash bags, work gloves, and high visibility-vests.
What to Bring: Please come wearing a mask, comfortable closed-toed shoes, and bring a filled reusable water bottle. Pants and long sleeves are encouraged if you are sun-sensitive! Backpack so you can be hands-free, and snacks are recommended. If you have wagons, that may be useful on trail!
Parking: Parking available in the Wattles Boys & Girls Club parking lot.
Bathrooms: Kingpins is allowing volunteers to use their facilities.
Accessibility: This event is partially accessible, however please communicate any physical restrictions upon sign in, so you can be assigned to an ADA accessible team! The event is organized into two approx.-90-minute cleaning segments - the first (10:10 - 11:45 am) is focused SOUTH from Powell to Harold; the second (12:30 - 2:00 pm) is focused SOUTH from Foster to Flavel. There is some slight elevation change along the multi-use pathway.
Individuals must be 18+ to volunteer.
