Cleaning Up Parkrose

Parkrose Neighborhood Litter Clean-Up

Description: Meet at Parkrose School District Office and then pick a couple streets between Prescott and Sandy Blvd to clean up! If you finish and there's time left over, come back and pick another street. Be sure to include a block of Sandy in your route.

Date/time: Saturday, June 19,  10:00AM-12:00PM

Location:  Parkrose School District parking lot (10636 NE Prescott St.) MAP LINK

What's provided: Heavy-duty garbage bags, litter grabbers, high-vis vests, and gloves are provided to all participants that need them. We can also provide bottled water and snacks.

What to bring: Please wear a face covering and comfortable close-toed shoes (sneakers are fine). We know it's summer and it gets warm, but we don't have sidewalks on most streets, and there are chances of encountering gravel, broken glass, and discarded needles. Because of this, close-toed shoes are strongly recommended. If you don't have large pockets for your water bottle, a small backpack or bag would also be helpful.

Parking: Parking is available at the district office. If the lot gets full, there is street parking as well. The No. 73 bus stops in front of the district office.

Bathrooms: Restrooms will be available at St. Rita's for volunteers.

Accessibility: The neighborhood is largely sidewalk free. The main sidewalks are along NE Prescott St., NE 102nd Ave, and also along Sandy Blvd. While these sidewalks are all ADA, Sandy is very loud and has heavy traffic. Someone with mobility challenges might prefer to stick to Prescott St or 102nd. Those who want to walk less (1/2-1 mi) can cover crosstreets closer to the district office; those who can walk more (1-4) miles can venture to the further streets (either 95th or 118th). If people want to pick up supplies at the district office and drive to a location, that's also doable. The neighborhood has street parking.
