St. Johns Clutter Busters - Earth Day St. Johns Cleanup
Come together with the St Johns Clutter Busters and community members for an Earth Day cleanup in the St Johns Neighborhood starting at St. Johns Park by the community center! This event will be entirely outdoors and will comply with social distancing guidelines. After a safety talk and getting cleanup supplies, we will spend a couple of hours picking up litter in the neighborhood to improve our community and protect our ecosystem. Join us in making Portland a better place!
When: Saturday April 24th, 10:30am - 12:30pm
Staggered Check In: To avoid a crowd at check in, arrive anytime between 10:30 - 11:00am for check in. Event will run from 10:30am – 12:30pm.
Where: We will meet by the St. Johns Community Center at the corner of N John Ave and N Central Ave, located at 8427 N Central Ave, Portland, OR 97203. MAP LINK.
Getting There/ Parking: Walking/biking/taking Trimet to the event is encouraged. Free parking is available on the street, in front of the park. We will be focusing on the business district and surrounding neighborhood, but if you do bring a vehicle we will be distributing people throughout St. Johns to maximize our impact. A vehicle would help in hauling the trash back to the park, or we will go grab any bags that you need to leave if walking.
What's Provided: Heavy-duty garbage bags, litter grabbers, and vinyl gloves are provided to all participants that need them.
What to Bring: Please come wearing closed-toed shoes and bring a filled reusable water bottle. If you have your own gloves, litter grabber, litter bag or bucket, you are encouraged to bring those as well.
Advanced Registration: Pre-registration is required! Please sign up (Green Button Below) ahead of time so we know how many volunteers to expect, and to fill out the volunteer waiver form.
COVID Safety: Wear a face covering. Observe social distancing throughout the cleanup. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult.
Restrooms: There is not public restroom at the park, so please plan accordingly.
Youth Volunteers: Children are welcome if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth volunteers ages 13-17 can also create their own SOLVE account online. A youth volunteer can attend without their guardian if they print out and bring a signed youth waiver form. Find the link to the youth waiver form here.
