Northwest Neighborhood Cleanup Starting at Wallace Park
Friends of Wallace Park is hosting a neighborhood trash pickup event on Saturday April 24th from 9:45 am - 12:00 am. We need civic-minded volunteers to join us in making a large impact on the quality of our neighborhood. Join us in making Portland a better place!
When: Saturday April 24th, 9:45 am - 12:00 pm
Advanced Registration: Pre-registration is required! Please sign up (Green Button Below) ahead of time so we know how many volunteers to expect, and to fill out the volunteer waiver form. There will be a limited number of spots open for this event.
Staggered Check In: To avoid a crowd at check in, arrive anytime between 9:45 am - 10:15 am for check in. Event will run from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
Where: We will meet at the pavilion in Wallace Park near the basketball courts. Look for SOLVE signs and a check in station. MAP LINK
Getting There/ Parking: Walking/biking/taking Trimet to the event is encouraged. Free parking is available in the park parking lot.
What's Provided: Heavy-duty garbage bags, litter grabbers, high-vis vests, and vinyl gloves are provided to all participants that need them.
What to Bring: All volunteers must wear a MASK! Please also come wearing comfortable closed-toed shoes and your own pair of work gloves if you have them. We recommend bringing a filled reusable water bottle and if you are bringing anything else pack them in a backpack to keep your hands-free during events. Please also dress for the weather.
COVID Safety: Wear a face covering. Observe social distancing throughout the cleanup. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult.
Restrooms: Public restrooms at the park may be closed. There are some nearby shops and grocery stores on NW 23rd that may have an open restroom. Please plan accordingly.
Accessibility: The check-in area is in a place that is wheelchair accessible. Most of the cleanup work will take place on city sidewalks that are wheelchair accessible. Please reach out if you have any questions or a need for accommodations. We will do our best to support you.
Youth Volunteers: Children are welcome if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth volunteers ages 13-17 will have to have their guardian sign a separate youth waiver form if they are attending a SOLVE event without a guardian. Find the link to the youth waiver form here.
