Let's Pull Together at Bowman Park
The South Albany High School Youth Watershed Council has been working at Bowman park for several years to plan and implement a restoration project that has included invasive species removals, cleanups, and native plantings.
Periwinkle Creek is a salmon bearing stream, and its convergence with the Willamette at Bowman park is an essential habitat for juvenile salmon. By removing invasive species at the site, we will be protecting the existing vegetation as well as the newly planted trees and shrubs. Enhancing the banks of Periwinkle Creek will provide shade and bank stabalization, enhancing the habitat quality of the creek. We will be removing invasive English Ivy from the trees and himalayan blackberry from the newly revegetated restoration site along Periwinkle Creek. We will also be removing any trash that we find from the park.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Event co-hosted by Benton County Cooperative Weed Management Area members: Calapooia Watershed Council, South Albany High School Youth Watershed Council, and City of Albany.
Please dress for the weather in layers and wear closed-toe sturdy shoes that may get wet or muddy.
