PGE Earth Day on the Springwater

Join PGE employees as we clean up the Springwater Trail for Earth Day! The Springwater Trail winds through Southeast Portland is heavily used by families, runners, and bicyclists. Additionally, the surrounding natural areas along nearby Johnson Creek provide valuable wildlife habitat and help protect water quality. Unfortunately the trail is heavily littered and invasive plants continue to spread in the natural areas. PGE employees, retirees and family/friends invite you to sign up with us to restore this beloved trail while making a big difference in the Portland community.
Saturday, April 20, 10 AM to 1 PM
Volunteers can choose between litter pickup or invasive species removal.
Litter pickup will involve walking the paved trail and occasionally picking up trash from the adjacent natural areas.
Invasives species removal will be teams using loppers and shovels to cut back invasive Armenian blackberry and dig out blackberry roots.
All groups will be led by SOLVE and Portland Parks and Recreation staff. All tools and instruction will be provided.
Remember to dress for the weather in layers and wear long sleeves and pants to protect against plants. Please wear closed-toe, sturdy shoes. Help this event be more sustainable by bringing your own refillable water bottle and consider taking public transit or carpooling to this event.
We will be meeting in the parking lot of the Portland Parks & Recreation Flavel Maintenance Yard, located at 8925 SE Flavel St. Please park on Flavel or the surrounding streets then look for the SOLVE signs and check-in area. Click here for a map of the meeting location.
