Trillium Creek Trail Ivy Removal West Linn
Trillium Creek Trail in West Linn is an area of 16.7 sloped acres with heavy ivy infestation on trees and ground. The trilliums in many places are overwhelmed by ivy. There is a creek at the bottom of the ravine. We have held two small ivy pulls and one large one. In the latter, several giant Pacific salamanders were found under the ivy by the great PGE volunteers brought out by SOLVE.
We are looking to make further progress on this multi-year project for Earth Day. We have applied for a Metro grant, which requires matching funds in either cash or volunteer effort. Volunteers on this project will not only be removing ivy, but helping us meet our matching fund goals.
Left to its own devices ivy will eventually kill the Doug firs in the area, and increase the risk of both fire and landslide in the long run. Not to mention kill all the native plants.
This is a close-in suburban green space which may be convenient for those who have other plans that day.
We will be meeting at 6405 Palomino Way in West Linn.
