Columbia River Slough Cleanup - Hosted by Cascadia Kayaking
Hosted by Cascadia Kayaking
When & Where: Meet at the Whitaker Pond Nature Pond parking lot by 10 am Saturday March 16th. Safety and gameplan talk at 10:40, launch at 11.
What: Help us keep trash out of the Columbia River! Bring your kayak or canoe & paddle with us through the sloughs to remove the garbage.
We will focus on 2 main areas: The Whitaker Slough and the Columbia Slough by Cornfoot Rd. There are also several abandoned homeless camps along the Columbia Blvd stretch that we hope to clear out. Bring appropriate winter paddling gear and your lifejacket. Heavy gloves if you desire. Do expect to get a little muddy and wet, as this is Oregon in March.
We will provide trash bags, some gloves, and a few trash pickers as well. We hope to have several canoes available to haul out larger items as well, with support from the Columbia Slough Watershed Council.
Hope to see you there!
