Independence - Monmouth Clean Up Day

The Independence - Monmouth community clean-up is a volunteer opportunity for all of our residents to improve our communities. Volunteers are needed for on-site disposal and recyling assistance; community projects such as park restoration, riverbank clean-up and graffiti removal, along with beautification of our parks, schools, downtown areas and roadways. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers. Large volunteer groups, please call Sue at 503-837-1127  in advance to ensure that an ample lunch supply is on hand.  You can  join us at the Riverview Park on May 19, 2018 from 8:30 AM thru 1:30 PM.  

We will be having an onsite debris and recycliing disposal for people who reside within the city limits of Independence and Monmouth. Proof of address may be required at the entrance gate. The cost for dropping of debris will be $10.00 per vehicle; a loaded vehicle with a small trailer will cost $20.00 and large trailers will cost $20.00. Non-commercial parties with hydraulic dump trailers should contact CSO Sue Albee @ Independence PD @ 503-837-1127 to make pre-arrangements.  We will accept non-household/kitchen trash, unpainted and non-pressure treated wood, yard debris, appliances, metal, car batteries, empty propane tanks and unmounted tires.

No hazardous materials will be accepted, including, but not limited to: fuel, paint, chemicals, concrete, dirt/soil, and etc. People may take computers and televisions directly to Goodwill for recycling. People will be responsible to remove their own tie downs once admitted into the event. We reserve the right to refuse or restrict acceptance of any waste, or waste that poses a hazard for the people working this event. No commercial business waste, hazardous materials, excessively comingled loads, or loads exceeding seven (7) feet in height will be accepted.

 Please be aware that the Riverview parking lot and access to the gravel bar will be closed to vehicles on May 19, 2018 from 6:00 am until after 3:00 pm. Unattended vehicles left in the Riverview parking lot may be towed. If you have questions regarding this event please call CSO Sue Albee @ Independence PD @ 503-837-1127.
