Spring Cleaning At Springbrook Park (Mother Earth says Thank You!)

It's time for Spring Cleaning at Springbrook Park! We'll clear out invasive species that take up space needed by native plants. Invasive plants out-compete native plants for light, water and nutrients....so they need a one way ticket out of the park! Join Friends of Springbrook Park with ongoing restoration of this 50 acre forested park. No experience needed. Great for families. Tools, gloves and snack provided. Springbrook Park is behind the playground at Uplands Elementary School. Look for work party signs. Parking: Uplands Elem. School, 2055 Wembley Park Rd. Wapato Access Weed Warrior Event

Hey Weed Warriors! Want to spend a satisfying morning getting rid of blackberries and other invasives along the Wapato Greenway Trail on Sauvie Island? State Parks staff recently brought in a tractor and mowed down some of the big stands, so our job is to lop off vines growing among native plants in the more pristine areas. Bring your favorite loppers and gloves or we'll have some you can borrow. No experience necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm for making natural areas more natural. Meet in the parking lot at 9 a.m.

Siltcoos Outlet Cleanup

Join SOLVE at the Siltcoos Outlet from 10 AM – 1 PM for a cleanup! This event is part of the annual Spring Oregon Beach Cleanup, presented by AAA Oregon, a statewide effort to keep our beaches free of harmful litter. Help us protect marine life and maintain the beauty of our coast. Be prepared by dressing for any weather and wear sturdy shoes. SOLVE will provide bags and gloves. However, you are encouraged to bring your own resuable bucket/bag, gloves, and water bottle to help reduce plastic waste. Don't forget about the small stuff! The most commonly found items of trash found on Oregon beaches are tiny bits of plastic and cigarette butts, which can be harmful to shore birds and marine life. Bring an old colander to sift the sand for these items. This beach cleanup is family-friendly, and volunteers of all ages will find the event fun and rewarding. Note that there are beach restrictions at this site (on the south side of the access) for snowy plover nesting season. Help protect this amazing shorebird! Please look out for Snowy Plover signs, do not cross roped off areas even if you see trash, and leave your pets at home. Remember our ocean shores can be dangerous. Avoid logs in the water. Keep your distance from marine mammals, and never turn your back on the ocean. If you find any hazardous material, please alert your Beach Captain. And remember, it's more fun to work as part of a team. Bring a buddy, stay safe, and have fun! Thank you to Central Coast Dispoal and Lane County for donating hauling and disposal services! Are you a AAA member? Click here to see a list of businesses in the area offering discounts to SOLVE volunteers. Make sure to show your AAA card and mention that you participated in the SOLVE beach cleanup! Meet at the Siltcoos Outlet day use parking lot. Follow HWY 101 south of Florence and Dune city. Drive approximately 7 miles south of Florence; turn west for Siltcoos Recreation Area (MP 198). Follow road to the main beach access. Parking: Park in the main parking lot. Note there is a fee station here. Please take a fee envelope, write "SOLVE Volunteer" on it in big letters and place on dashboard in your car to avoid parking fees. No need to put anything in the fee tube. The USFS will waive fees for volunteers on SOLVE coastwide cleanup days. Google Map
